This is one of the seminal songs of my generation so it is fascinating to see how they put it all together.

I don’t normally get worked over movies and so far with maybe the exception of Lord of the Rings movies I haven’t seen much too get worked up over. That could change however if the news via Alex Billington at FirstShowing.net that the Foundation trilogy is hitting the movies it on the money.

It appears that Roland Emmerich will be directing the adaption of Isaac Asimov’s Foundation series of books. It was confirmed at Comic-Con that Robert Rodat (Saving Private Ryan, The Patriot) has signed on to write the script(s).

Emmerich also confirmed that they are going to make an actual trilogy of movies based on the novels, not just one movie. "Foundation is my first attempt to do a series of movies, because we’re developing three movies: Foundation, Foundation and Empire and Second Foundation. It took me a long time to actually wait for the moment where the rights were totally free and we got them all."

All I can say if this is indeed the case I sure hope they don’t screw it up because next to Heinlein and Bliss this is the one other series of sci-fi classics that I would love seen made into movies.
